A born and raised Crystal Coast native with a passion for the area’s historical sites and communities, Kira Deruise brings more than 8 years of property management and real estate experience and a reputation for her honesty and fighting for her clients at Croatan Realty Group.  She is a great  resource for local events, festivals, and activities available for the whole family throughout our area. She is a mom to four girls and a pet parent to three crazy dogs.

           When not out showing houses, mentoring others, or renovating her house, Kira can be found relaxing with her husband and daughters and sampling all of the local coffee shops.

Coastal North Carolina is a great place to live and work, which is why Jessica chose to call it home. A military child you has lived in several states and developed roots in the Midwest, Jessica settled in Jacksonville NC in 2008 and brings to Croatan Realty Group a passion for helping others and our local community. With over 10 years of experience helping  businesses to run smoothly, she fell in love with the impact homeownership has for others and their families while working with a local mortgage company.

             When Jessica isn't working with Croatan Realty or coaching, you’ll often find her at home in the garden with her two children or out with friends and family enjoying the many scenic walking trails, parks, and community events in the area.

Born and raised right here, Shelby understands eastern North Carlina like the back of her hand, giving her a unique perspective on the needs and opportunities for local and newly local clients. When she's not helping families find their dream homes she is spending time with hers, soaking up the sun at the beach and rivers and enjoying outdoor sports and fishing. Shelby's favorite part of being a realtor? Helping families like yours during life's new chapters and turning real estate dreams into reality.

BEHIND THE NAME - CROATAN REALTY GROUP

In 1587 a small colony was founded on an island off the eastern coast of North Carolina. The settlement would have been the first permanent English colony in the New World, had the settlers not disappeared owing to unknown circumstances. John White, the governor of Roanoke Island colony, sailed to England in hopes of gathering badly needed supplies and reinforcements to bring back to the struggling colony.

His return to Roanoke was delayed in 1588 by the Spanish Armada — a huge Spanish fleet that sailed to northern Europe with the intention of invading England — which required the English government to make use of all available ships to combat the threat. When White finally got back to Roanoke Island on Aug. 18, 1590, he found the colony abandoned — the only clues to the colonists' fate being the words CROATOAN carved on a palisade post and CRO carved on a tree. White believed that they had gone to Croatan Island (now called Hatteras Island), but a storm prevented White from reaching Hatteras and he was forced to turn back to England. He was unable to raise the money to finance another rescue mission and the fate of the colonists has remained a mystery ever since.

The name Croatan has been in use by our local eastern Carolina area every since.
